Description
Foresight project within the French Priority Research Programme and Equipment PREZODE (PREventing ZOonotic Disease Emergence) conducted by IRD, INRAE and CIRAD. PREZODE is a large-scale project funded by the French government whose aim is to support academic research on the prevention of zoonotic disease emergence. It is closely connected to the international PREZODE Initiative, which involves dozens of countries and hundreds of partners around the globe.Within the Priority Research Programme and Equipment PREZODE, we are carrying out a foresight study where we will build scenarios on the prevention of zoonotic disease emergence in 2050. We aim to explore what the prevention of zoonotic disease emergence—as opposed to preparedness for or reaction to a spillover event—could look like in 2050. The study will focus on the evolution of global drivers of zoonotic disease emergence, and will combine a global perspective with three grounded case studies that are currently being defined. This work is being carried out by a foresight team from the Directorate of Expertise and Foresight (DEPE) at INRAE (the French National Institute for Agricultural, Food and Environmental research). The scenarios we will build during this study will be used to inform public policy and identify future research agendas for preventing the emergence of zoonotic diseases
