Personal profile
Research expertise
I am a mixed-methods scientist and pediatric nurse, with expertise in neonatal and child health, including nutrition. I am a Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Tropical Medicine & Honorary Assistant Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM, UK). I have a PhD in Nutrition and Environment (University of Leeds, UK), MSc in Global Health (University of Southampton, UK) & Anthropology (University of Bologna, Italy), Diploma in Tropical Nursing (LSHTM, UK), and BSc in Pediatric Nursing.
Previously, I worked in clinical trials and implementation research at LSHTM. Also, I have been working with Epicentre/Médecins Sans Frontières since 2019, and conducted formative research and evaluations, mostly for maternal and child health projects (including malnutrition, TB, malaria, mental health, intensive care). I worked clinically and as a research nurse in high and low income countries, especially in neonatal and pediatric intensive care from 2010 to 2019.
Research interests
I am particularly interested in the impact of climate change on neonatal and child health and nutrition, and adaptive measures to face climatic hazards in low and middle income countries. My PhD explored the effects of climatic factors on maternal and child nutrition, including breastfeeding and complementary feeding.
Teaching expertise
I teach on Masters course modules on Evaluations (DEHP), Sexual and Reproductive Health, Tropical Medicine and DHS course at ITM. At LSHTM, I teach in the Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy and Programming MSc (online) in collaboration with the University of Ghana, and in the Planetary Health MSc. I supervise and coach MSc and PhD students.
