Jan Boeynaems

Jan Boeynaems (ITM) is Manager of the Department of Public Health at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp. He graduated as economist at the Antwerp University and obtained a master in development studies at the Université Catholique de Louvain in 1987. He started his career as aid worker in DR Congo for 3 years. In total, he gained 25 years of experience working for development not for profit organizations and as Finance Director of Médecins Sans Frontières, Operational Center Brussels (MSF). During that period he visited many low and middle income countries and developed an interest in micro finance, funding schemes and humanitarian aid. He was president of the Board of Directors of Alterfin and is actually Treasurer of MSF Supply, one of the two humanitarian procurement centers of MSF.
