This program aims at improving the health of the Congolese population through two Specific Objectives (SO)
SO1. Building capacity for health research in three partner institutions

INRB is the national reference laboratory of DRC, ESP is an academic center with a

neglected tropical diseases. We invest - according to specific needs - in the development of
human resources, knowledge production, scientific collaborations, infrastructure and
technological platform, as well as institutional management.
SO2. Rationalize the fight against Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT) while
strengthening local health systems with the support of all partners
A concerted action of the national program with the support of the INRB, ESP and CRS aiming at
rationalization of the control of sleeping sickness in an epidemiological context that aims to eliminate sleeping sickness in 90% of homes by 2020. The approach supports on three strategic axes:
1. Alignment with the ongoing health sector reform in DRC, thus ensuring a strong anchoring of the
operational planning in that of the Provincial Divisions of Health and the executive district teams;
2. the adoption of new technologies, including digital tools;
