Quantitative PCR based confirmation of Mycobacterium leprae to aid leprosy diagnosis in endemic countries

The main objective of this study is to develop a sensitive molecular test for the confirmation of M. leprae. Such a test will serve both the confirmation of patients in whom the clinical diagnosis of leprosy is doubtful, and research questions that aim to subsequently genotype M. leprae DNA.
