Combined perspectives from people affected by scabies and healthcare workers: a mixed- methods study in Flanders, Belgium - PUBLIC REPORT

Research output: Book/ReportReportpeer-review

Abstract

Highlights
This mixed-methods study provides comprehensive evidence that scabies represents a far more complex healthcare challenge than currently recognized in clinical practice and health policy. The re-emergence of scabies in Flanders has revealed fundamental gaps in healthcare system preparedness, clinical knowledge, and patient support that extend well beyond traditional biomedical approaches to infectious disease management.
Scabies is associated with significant and persistent psychological and social impacts that often remain unrecognized in routine care and are frequently compounded by shortcomings in healthcare delivery.
