Abstract
A detailed neuropathological description of the brain lesions in rats with terminal Trypanosoma brucei gambiense infection is presented. A generalized meningo-encephalitis was found which is comparable to the lesions encountered in human cases of sleeping sickness. The main lesion is a perivasculitis while demyelinisation areas and neuronal lesions are absent or very scarce.
