Abstract
Based on multiple data sources, including general practitioner records, occupational health consultations, medical follow-up of asylum seekers and people in precarious living situations, consultations at student health services and data on sales and reimbursement of scabies medication, the evolution of scabies between 2000 and 2025 was analysed. An annual increase in the incidence of 15% was observed in the period 2011 to 2023, also reflected in an increased use of first-line treatments such as permethrin. Adolescents and young adults aged 15 to 24, men and urban areas were disproportionately affected. Since 2023, a number of data sources have shown a stabilisation or a slow decline in the incidence of scabies, especially in the age group 20-24 years old. New surveillance systems were put in place to enable better monitoring of trends.
